Schweitzer Mountain Resort - 11 miles northwest of Sandpoint, a ski and summer resort. Lodging, dining, sports and entertainment. Summer: scenic chairlift rides, hiking, mountain biking (including bike rentals). Winter: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, sleighrides, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and events. 263-9555.

Lake Pend Oreille - Idaho's largest lake is 43 miles long and has dozens of small lakes and many streams and rivers replenishing it daily. The lake's name is derived from an Indian Tribe called Pend Oreilles by early French trappers because they wore pendant orna-ments in their ear lobes. Fish from the bridge and break Lake Pend Oreille's world record 37 pound kamloop record. Fishing licenses can be obtained at the Pend Oreille Sports Shop, the Pastime Sports Shop, Kmart, Bottle Bay Resort, and Ellisport Bay.

Bonner County Historical Museum - 905 Ontario. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An authen-tic pioneer cabin, homestead and logging displays. 263-2344.

Hidden Lakes Golf Course -Open to the public, 8840 Lower Pack River Road, Highway 200 East. Eight miles east of Sandpoint. Idaho's newest 18 hole golf course offers a challenge for novice as well as pro golf enthu-siasts. This par 71 course has water hazards on 17 of the 18 holes and over 80 sand bunkers. 263-1642 March to November.

Panida Theater - In existence for more than 10 years, Sandpoint's Unicorn Theatre Players have gone from Neil Simon comedies to Tennessee Williams drama. Productions run from early July through mid-August. Additional entertainment throughout the year is sponsored by the Pend Oreille Arts Council and provides a variety of music, dance and professional theater.

Silverwood - Located south of Sandpoint is North Idaho's newest and largest theme park. Its steam train, plane and automobile collec-tion, and airshows are now joined by amusement park rides including a log shoot, ferris wheel, and roller coaster (seasonal).

Farmers Market at Sandpoint - In the Center of town at Farmin Park, a farmers market takes place every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from May to October. Featured are locally grown fresh produce and a wide variety of related products.
